The AstralPool HX120 Natural Gas Pool & Spa Heater is a powerful, compact, and proven gas heating solution for spas, swim spas, and small to medium residential pools. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the HX120 has been a trusted heater platform for more than two decades, valued for its rapid heat‑up times, low maintenance requirements, and excellent operating efficiency. 

Delivering approximately 24 kW heat output (around 110 MJ/h gas input), the HX120 provides true heat‑on‑demand, allowing spas to heat in as little as one hour when correctly sized and pools to reach operating temperature within 24 hours under typical conditions. In cooler climates, the heating performance is comparable to a much larger heat pump, making gas heating the preferred choice where fast recovery is essential. 

At the core of the HX120 is an all‑copper finned tube heat exchanger, engineered to accept high water flow rates while delivering up to 83% thermal efficiency. The copper design helps reduce scale formation in the waterways, improving heat transfer, reducing servicing frequency, and extending heater life when water chemistry is maintained correctly. 

User control is managed through the Genus electronic touch control system, featuring a large LCD interface that displays actual and set temperatures, ignition status, water pressure, and fault diagnostics. Electronic ignition eliminates the need for a continuous pilot light, improving gas efficiency and overall safety. Built‑in diagnostic and safety lockout functions assist with servicing and long‑term reliability. 

The HX120 is housed in a marine‑grade, powder‑coated steel cabinet, designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions across Australia and New Zealand. Its compact footprint allows for straightforward installation in confined equipment areas, making it an ideal replacement heater for legacy Hurlcon and AstralPool models.
